Annie’s Naturals – Product Review

I have received some questions about the type of salad dressing I use. I thought this was a good time to do a product review to let you in on my thoughts!

I use Annie’s Naturals dressings, mainly the Goddess Dressing.

Let me just say that I was a ranch FIEND before. Then I realized that a salad isn’t too healthy when it’s drenched in dressing.

Today I eat my salads bare and naked. I love adding fresh basil to my salads and drizzle with a little olive oil. Simple and light. I WOULD add balsamic but I am not a vinegar fan – boo. It is too acidic for me.

But when I saw Annie’s dressings in the organic section of my local supermarket, I knew I had to see what they were about. The Goddess Dressing caught my eye because…. well…. I am a goddess! We all are, and I thought “This dressing MUST be amazing if it’s made for Goddess’s!’”.

Besides the beautiful fire-red haired hippy woman on the front, I quickly turned the bottle around and scanned the ingredient list.

INGREDIENTS: *Canola Oil, Water, *Tahini, *Apple Cider Vinegar, *Soy Sauce (water, *soybeans, sea salt, *wheat), *Lemon Juice, Sea Salt, *Garlic, *Sesame Seeds, *Parsley, *Chives, Xanthan Gum. Dairy free & vegan

For one I can pronounce AND know what ALL of these ingredients are. Second, most of them are organic (* = organic). Thirdly, it sounded yummy! So i bought it, tried it and have been eating it ever since – 2+ years now. The ONLY problem I have is that it takes forever to shake and blend – I stand there shaking over and over! The oil separates and I do not want all oil on my salad.

I have learned to stop obsessing about calories but I did look at the nutrition facts. Pretty average but remember that ALL of the ingredients are natural. This is my main concern over nutrition facts.

Look at the comparison to the ranch I used to eat:

Ingredients: WATER, SOYBEAN OIL, SUGAR, GARLIC JUICE, BUTTERMILK, CONTAINS LESS THAN 2% OF SALT, MODIFIED FOOD STARCH, WHEY, PHOSPHORIC ACID, MONOSODIUM GLUTAMATE, EGG WHITES, VINEGAR, XANTHAN GUM, CITRIC ACID, POLYSORBATE 60, SPICE, NATURAL FLAVOR, ENZYMES, WITH SODIUM LACTATE, NATAMYCIN, AND CALCIUM DISODIUM EDTA AS PRESERVATIVES. CONTAINS: MILK, EGG.

There really is no comparison in my opinion.

I find it hard to venture out and try new products when the one I love is just fine; but I did and tried Annie’s Balsamic Vinaigrette. Sadly, I was not a fan… and pretty much hated it. Oh well, you win some you lose some.

Annie’s carries a lot of natural and organic products. I have been meaning to try a new dressing flavor… but I am hesitant. Why change a good thing!?

If you have tried Annie’s dressing and/or condiment products what do you think of them? Which has been a staple in your fridge or cupboard?

So there you have it, the scoop on Annie’s dressings. I give Annie my Clean Eating seal of approval! Enjoy!

  1. omg I'm OBSESSED with annie's goddess. I just (not even 30 sec ago) had a salad with goddess dressing on it! I never tried it until Alicia Recommended it in The Kind Diet… but YUM! It's all I use. AND>… my 3 year old loves it and he, like you used to be, LOVEEEE ranch. I tend to not eat enough calories and fat… weird problem but it has caused my body to be so starved it gaines weight. ANYHOW I love this dressing because it's the GOOD fat and GOOD calories. I just love it and pour it on 🙂

  2. I've gotten to the point where I don't buy dressings anymore because of the MSG and the Annie's Italian I tried once and though it was a bit bland. But I've never tried the Goddess. Thanks so much for the review!Michellemyowndamnkitchen.blogspot.com

  3. I love Annie's Naturals dressings, the honey mustard is my favorite. I wish they were a little lower in sodium, but other than that, they're great. EVOO + vinegar is my fav though. :)Jenn

  4. I mostly make my own dressings over here, but the ones that I love and buy are the Oil and Vinegar from Newman's Own and the French Vinaigrette from Brianna's. I want to try that Goddess dressing so bad though! I'll have to wait until we move back to the states I guess! 😉

  5. Hey Tasha, This is my first comment, but I have been following your blog for a few months now. I'm new to clean eating and slowly changing all my food choices around and love to peek into your life and what you are eating. Anyways, I have a solution to your salad dressing shaking dilemma. Give a good squeeze of dijon mustard into your bottle and shake. Mustard helps emulsify the oil so that it combines with the other ingredients. I never buy dressing, I just always make it myself and I ALWAYS add a dab of dijon to help blend the dressing. Try it out! Hope it works.

  6. I tried Annie's once and the kinda i got was not a winner. the Goddess dressing sounds good though, i think I'll have to give that one a try. although, i'm one of those Ranch fiends, except i make my own. you should check out the recipe on my blog sometime! its light made with Greek yogurt! =)

  7. I have always wanted to try the Goddess dressing. It's on my grocery list as of today. Isn't it sad how hard it is to find a dressing that doesn't have tons of preservatives plus MSG? Have a great day!

  8. I just wanted to say I found your blog through Janetha's and I am looking forward to following. I also am a mother of a young kiddo and try to be an example of a healthy lifestyle. It's nice finding fellow mothers out there in blog land :)-Tina
