There’s something about a simple 3-mile run on a beautiful day that just resets everything.

The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and the parks were full of life with people walking, jogging, just being outside and soaking it all in.

I’m not sure if many can relate, but running always takes me back.
Back to the version of me 18 years ago when Jordan (my son) was just a baby and I was just discovering the blogging world. I remember finding blogs like Healthy Tipping Point, Eat Live Run, and Carrots n Cake. They were all runners, all sharing their journeys, and I thought… why not me too?
So I started running and documenting it.
And in a lot of ways, that version of me shaped who I am today.
I won’t get too deep or sappy here but there’s something really grounding about reconnecting with that part of yourself. Running has a way of reminding me who I am at my core.

What’s changed the most? My mindset.
Back then, I cared a lot about pace. Numbers mattered. Progress had to look a certain way.
Now? I just run for the pure enjoyment of it.
Yesterday was a perfect example of how my mind felt great, my body felt strong… but my lungs? Not exactly on the same page.

I held an 11:20 pace, and honestly, I didn’t care one bit. Because this run wasn’t about performance. It was about showing up, feeling it out, and enjoying the moment.

Lately, my fitness has looked a little different—more weight lifting, incline walking with a weighted vest, less actual running. But here’s the thing…
Jordan wants to run some races with me this year.
Say less.
Time to start building that stamina back up, one run at a time. Not chasing perfection. Not chasing pace.
Just chasing the joy of it all.
And reconnecting with a little piece of the old me along the way.

Stay Well!
Tasha
