Seattle, seattle veg fest, whole foods

A food blogger weekend!

What a busy weekend I had! Both Saturday and Sunday were PACKED with foodie events! And both days I had company from my best friend, Ashley. We used to work together last year and since we both moved careers we only see each other on occasion. It was really nice spending some time with her again!

We met at Whole Foods for some breakfast and coffee. I love their oatmeal bar and I picked out a package of chopped mango and strawberries.

After a glorious time catching up on life, we walked around a bit. They were having their Eggstravaganza Event which I was invited to. They featured some delicious egg recipes and dishes and had some great Easter displays! I am posting an Easter recipe post soon that will be showcasing some great Easter dishes!

I also picked up some things as we were walking around…

Coconut water, Lara Bars, Vega mix, Almonds, Hemp Hearts, Peanut Butter, Chocolate Chips, Garbage Bags and some Odwalla Juice. I also picked up a dry brush. I have always wanted to dry brush – it’s great for circulation and eliminating toxins out of your body.

After my Whole Foods outing, Marc and I had a wonderful sushi lunch at a local sushi joint. We shared a delicious roll and I nibbled on a seaweed salad.

And a little soy fro-yo for dessert! Topped with coconut, mini chocolate chips and strawberries. 🙂

The weather had a sudden shift from the day before and it ended up being a gorgeous day! A drive to Seattle was much needed!

The night ended with some dart throwing, bud light drinking and some March Madness watching!

Today was VegFest! And man, did I get some great veg-tastic treats! Ashley and I spent a good hour walking around, filling our bellies with eats and treats!

There were a TON of people there! It was very difficult walking around and actually enjoying the festival. After about an hour I needed some coffee so we headed out and went to a local coffee place called Cafe Vita. I was familiar with it but never had been inside the shop. Nice and quiet after such an over packed festival!

I ordered an Americano. It was an excellent cup of coffee!

I ended up grabbing a pound to take home… French Press love!

It was a really nice day today, too! Not to cold… and it was really fun driving around the streets in her new Mini! I love Mini’s!

What a weekend! A lot of fun and very busy! But I do enjoy a good jam packed couple of days! Especially when it ends with a bag of goodies like this!

SOOO much good stuff!!! I will have a ton of product reviews coming up!!!

My day ended with some spoonfuls of this AMAZING stuff! Good night! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Seattle, seattle veg fest

Yes, I am here!

Holy Tuesday! I haven’t blogged in 4 days – wow!

I’ve have been pretty distracted and busy; some personal decisions going on right now. But I am well so no need to worry =)

I have had no time to check out my blog roll :ashamed!: but I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

For breakfast I had a wonderful smoothie – banana, almond milk, peaches and strawberries. So gooooood! Summer in a glass! =D

And J decided he would rearrange my cupboard for me. Can you say “Future Chef”?

Back news: I am having my x-ray tomorrow and will meet with the doctor again this week to go over what is happening. Luckily it is finally starting to feel normal again! Thank goodness! I haven’t tried to run but I have been walking. It is pretty sore towards the end of my walk but the pain resides fairly quickly.

VegFest 2010

This past weekend was VegFest 2010 in Seattle. Marc and I attended Saturday and we were both blown away by the size and the variety of the vendors. There were big names like LaraBar, Cascadian Farm, Odwalla, Morning Star, but I loved seeing the locally owned businesses just as much, if not more! We estimated that there were about 150-175 total vendors.

We didn’t make any of the seminars or book signings but we did have a good time sampling products! Here are just a few of the vendors that were there and most of the samples we ate:

It was pretty crowded and we had to push through the crowd to get to the tables.

I wanted these shorts!!!

We donated a dollar to help animals in need =)

Marc went straight to the Stacy’s chips!

MMMmmmm this was soooooo yummy! Tofu and enchilada sauce, simply delicious!

Mighty O Donut’s are a local vegan and organic donut bakery here in Seattle. I have been wanting to visit their shop for some time and we were so excited to sample their donuts! I will DEFINETLY be making a stop there more often!

I was very pleased to see so many organic produce delivery companies. I currently am not a member of any but I have been looking into the option.

A big shout out and Thank You to Living Harvest for giving me two tickets the the event! Here is Jennifer pouring yummy samples of Tempt Hemp Milk!

We ate A LOT of food (!!) and gathered a bunch of samples and information!

It was a wonderful event and I am looking forward to attend next year, too!

Before we headed to the event, we stopped by Bamboo Garden in Seattle. It is an all vegetarian/vegan Chinese restaurant that I have always wanted to try. Marc has eaten there before and he loved it.

We started off with soup – corn chowder and hot and sour.      DSC05046DSC05049

The corn chowder was amazing! The hot and sour soup was a little too sweet for my liking but it was very fresh tasting.

We shared a combo plate – fried rice, spring roll, sweet and sour “chicken” and some noodle dish. It was very tasty but next time I try this place I will trying something different.

I loved reading this! =)

Phew – so there you have it! I will be back tomorrow with a chocolate recipe 😉

Pancake inspiration!

It’s Friday!

As promised, I will update you all on my back situation. I went to our family doctor yesterday afternoon and I told him the long story of my fall, my marathon training and so on. He checked my reflexes, watched me walk, had me do a number of moves (bending over, turning, etc). He said it was nothing serious but really did not have an explanation as to what happened or what was going on. I need to have an x-ray and we will go from there.

He told me to live normally – go to the gym, run of I want. But I am trusting my own bodies judgment and I will probably stay away from running as I am still limping when I walk.

So there you have it… I am starting to feel a little bit better. Either that or I am getting used to the pain!

Jessica aka Dairy Free Betty announced on her facebook page that she was going to have pancakes for breakfast… talk about inspiration! I took her suggestion to heart and whipped up a batch of buckwheat pancakes for J and I.

Of course J wanted to help out in the kitchen! 😉

But he actually had more fun playing with the buttons on the fridge!

I topped my pancakes with PB, strawberries and maple syrup.

I put chocolate chips in J’s pancakes… let’s just say I had a very messy boy to clean up!

The Nourish your Inner Goddess giveaway has ended! Thank you for all that entered – I loved reading about the ways you love to pamper yourself!

The winner chosen by was….. Number 1!!!

Heather (Heather’s Dish) said…

i’ve wanted to win this so badly! i would say that just taking time to do yoga on my own (no hubby or dogs allowed!) is one of my favorite ways to pamper myself 🙂

Congratulations Heather!

Like I mentioned before, I am attending Seattle’s Veg Fest this weekend and I so excited! Living Harvest was kind enough to give me two free tickets so Marc and I are going to check it out while J is busy being spoiled by Grandma. =)

What are your plans this weekend? Whatever they are, have fun and be safe!
