Recommitting to Yourself + Grocery Haul

Hi friends!

How has your day been?

Today I could not get enough coffee! But… that’s kind of the case every single day. lol

coffee

After getting Jordan off to school, I did some emails and work, then I did a PiYo workout! PS – I love PiYo! I have been doing PiYo for over a year and it is one of my favorite workouts! I did BUNS today followed by 10 minutes of core work on my own. Holy burn! Even after a year, it still burns!

I went to go get in the shower and saw someone found a sliver of sun to lay in! She was sooooo happy sunbathing!

After a week of down time with my mom, I am recommitting to myself again. I think it’s super important to keep recommitting to yourself, your goals and desires! After very minimal working out and relaxed eating, my clean diet is coming back in full force! I can tell my sugar cravings have been out of control lately and I need to get those in check FAST! Sugar has and always will be my downfall – it’s really easy for me to fall into the sugar trap.

I had to restock my healthy foods ASAP! So a trip to Trader Joes was in order! Keep in mind that NOT all of what I bought was for me – I bought for my son’s lunch and my husband, too.

groceries 1

GROCERY HAUL!

groceries 2

Bag 1 – ground turkey, chicken breasts, frozen blueberries, nitrate-free smoked turkey, yogurt for Jordan, black beans, garbanzo beans, salsa, organic tortilla chips, potatoes, organic romaine, organic eggs and tea tree soap.

groceries 4

Bag 2 – organic baby spinach, organic yogurt tubes for Jordan (like GoGurt but much healthier!), frozen fish sticks for Jordan, organic tomato soup, string cheese, organic bars for Jordan, nitrate-free black forest ham, plain greek yogurt, asparagus, broccoli and dark chocolate.

groceries3

Bag 3 – tomato sauce, yellow onion, apples, Panda cereal for Jordan, bananas, cantaloupe, cauliflower and almond milk.

Clean Eating  Tip – When you have healthy options in the house, you will eat healthy!

I was in such a rush to get out the door today that I completely forgot to eat! I ended up eating a Lara Bar on the way home from the store… at 2:30pm!

snack3

After I put the groceries away, I made myself a smoothie. This really hit the spot!

lunch

Tropical Strawberry Protein Powder (I used Shakeology)

1 large ripe banana

1 tablespoon peanut butter

Unsweetened Almond Milk

Ice

Cold, thick and creamy!

I also had a small snack about an hour after my smoothie:

snacks

Pumpkin Terra Chips and a string cheese – my mom left the chips from when she was here and at first I didn’t like them… but they are actually pretty good! I am all about pumpkin right now!

snacks1

Before dinner we all just hung out and relaxed! We watched Back to the Future III in honor of Back to the Future day. The third one is my favorite!

us

Dinner was SIMPLE! I made pasta sauce with ground turkey, basil, garlic and boiled some spaghetti and steamed some green beans. I had a small portion of noodles, a ton of green beans and a healthy portion of meat sauce. I love adding veggies to my pasta bowls.

For dessert I had a piece of dark chocolate.

Banana Date Smoothie

Sometimes the best things are the simplest things!

Take the banana date smoothie for example.

banana date smoothie 2

Bananas. Dates. Water.

Simple yet soooo amazing!

I make this as a breakfast smoothie or a lunch smoothie. I have been eating more high carb raw foods and this smoothie gives me a TON of energy that lasts!

It’s beginning to feel a lot like…

IMG_3096

Yes. Yes we did.

So last night consisted of Christmas tree decorating, watching Rudolph and a little veggie pizza…

IMG_3088

IMG_3091

IMG_3093

Jordan was SO excited to put the tree up! Every year we seem to put the tree up earlier and earlier… this has been the earliest. But I am not complaining! I love the soft glow of the tree and the coziness of the house now! Love!

Plus, this means I wont have to stash gifts… I can buy, wrap and place under the tree!

Christmas isn’t a huge production at our house and we never go overboard with gifts… but we really like the spirit and the feel of the Holidays!

IMG_3097

This morning I woke up and enjoyed my coffee next to the tree… lovely!

I also lit my new apple cinnamon candle – smells so good!

IMG_3099

After I checked my emails and blog roll I made a smoothie for breakfast – this beauty had frozen blueberries, frozen strawberries and frozen banana, 1/3 cup greek yogurt, protein powder, almond milk and water.

We have a nice relaxing day planned out! I will be back with my eats!

foodjournal1

Just your average quick cook oats plus a scoop of vanilla protein powder.

foojournal2

Mid morning snack was a coconut Larabar – love this flavor!

Lunch was heated chili with a small side of organic corn chips. I love chili leftovers – chili always taste so much the day after! And the day after that!

Yesterday I mentioned that hubs was not feeling well… today I started to feel under the weather, too. A fruit smoothie with protein was all I was craving for dinner. This pink beauty had blueberries, mango, water, OJ and protein powder.

This mama is ready for bed! Good night!

Meals – Day 7 Sunday

Hey guys!!!

How has your 90 day challenge been? Mine has been AMAZING!!! I have been adding my cardio and weights back into my plan and my energy has been THROUGH THE ROOF! I have not felt this good in a LOOOONG TIME!

My meals have really been quite the same so I wont be posting every single day (unless you want me to!). Instead, I was thinking of grouping them together in a few posts per week.

So here they are!!!

Breakfast has been my oatmeal with protein powder during the week – this has become my favorite way to start the day!

IMG_2187

This morning I switched it up and had 2 egg whites + 1 whole egg, kale and asparagus. And topped with Cholula Hot Sauce! It was amazing!

IMG_2297

Snacks have been fruit ( apples or banana usually ) with nuts if I feel I need the extra fat. Because I have been upping my protein, my cravings have disappeared and I stay fuller longer.

IMG_2239

Lunch and Dinner has been about the same – I will alternate between shakes and salads. I buy a few produce items and eat them until they are gone. Then I will mix it up!

salads

My salads have a mixture of veggies and protein – either beans or chicken. I love adding dried cranberries and feta to my salads for an added taste!

Left – romaine lettuce, red onion, shredded chicken (6 oz), cherry tomatoes, dried cranberries, feta, olive oil and dried basil.
Middle – Cabbage ( I am addicted to cabbage! ), red onion, cucumber, avocado, shredded chicken (4 oz) and hot sauce.
Right – Sautéed kale (pre-cooked then cooled), brown rice, chickpeas, sweet potatoes, sunflower seeds, dried basil and cayenne pepper.

IMG_2272

I also had sashimi one night! LOVE!!!

shakes

Left – Almond Milk/Water, frozen banana pieces, peaches, spinach and protein powder.
Middle – My “Love” Shake!! Almond Milk/Water, strawberries, protein powder and a scoop of cocao powder! This is my favorite!!!
Right – I had this shake after a workout. This was my love shake again!

IMG_2309

And someone likes my shakes just as much as I do! 😉

My music has been ROCKIN at the gym! I get so fired up when I hear a great workout song! These have been getting me fired up!

music

And who has updated their iPhone? Do you love it or hate it?
I happen to LOVE the new ios7!!! It’s like getting a new phone without buying a new phone!

:Follow your dreams:

     IMG_2302

I took some time to focus on reflecting today. I was sitting by the fire, looking into the flames and really having a heart to heart chat with myself. I attended a training seminar this weekend and I have been HIGH on ENERGY since the training! It was such an amazing experience! I was able to hear so many successful stories about individuals who took action and CHANGED their lives, lost weight, became healthier and are now living a positive life! I also connected with so many positive leaders! Simply amazing!!

Since then I have been really digging deep and facing my fears, overcoming my own obstacles and recognizing my strengths. As a coach, I have to do this, too! – To become a better person, a stronger leader and to reconnect with my passions and dreams! – You have to ask yourself WHY every single day! WHY are you doing this?  WHY does this matter? WHY?

Why? I am so blessed to be apart of so many health and wellness transitions and I am so grateful for each and every individual that I have made contact with! YOU are my inspiration! This is what I was born to do – to help others change their life and help them become healthier, happier and more positive!

Have questions regarding my 90 day challenge? Leave a comment below! I would love to hear from you!!!

Call me maybe!

By the time you read this post I am hoping I have found my phone – I went to the movies tonight and turned the ringer off and now I can’t find it. It’s somewhere in the house I know that for sure. However, I instinctively tried to call it and DUH… the ringer was off! FAIL!

Oh, I went and saw Iron Man 3 and it was AAAHHHH-MAZING! No spoilers… just go see it, ok!?!?

Are you familiar with Liz Dialto? If not, you should be! She creates amazing at home workout videos on Youtube, a life coach and is such a kind and positive individual! I just watched this video and I am going to try it tomorrow!

She has also started #smoothieaday on both instagram and facebook. I love finding inspiration for my daily smoothies on instagram – especially if I am craving something bad, just looking at smoothies makes my mouth start salivating!

smoothe_241147636_n

Isn’t this beautiful??!! It had a ton of frozen fruit in it: mango pieces, blueberries, strawberries, grapes (small handfuls of each), a small fresh banana, a tablespoon of frozen OJ concentrate, 2 tablespoons of chia seeds, a spoon of peanut butter, water and a splash of Grade B maple syrup.

And I shared it with this little guy, too… he just loves smoothies!

Now I am off to look for my phone once more!

Embrace life!

Hey all! Happy weekend!

IMG_0151

With the recent tragedies this week, both in Boston and Texas, I wanted to take a minute and bring a positive spin and perspective to the table. It’s obvious to see that the world is a cruel place. There is no reason for death and sadness and it creates fear and unanswered questions in the victims and those closest to them. With no real reason and answer, the innocent are effected, scarring them for eternity. This is why it is crucial to be living your life the best you can!

Embrace life! Enjoy the small things and take care of your own. Do what makes YOU happy! If you have options or choices, make wise ones that make your heart and soul sing! Because there is no guarantee that you will be around to see tomorrow.

When I talk to my coaching patients, we touch on the past but we GROW the future! I help people bring positive awareness to each and every day! To help them look beyond the limits! This is what life is about – to channel your inner happiness and use it every single day!

We also need to be aware of the foods we are consuming and listen to our cravings and the reaction we get from the foods we eat. I have been loving and craving my green smoothies! I just cannot get enough of them!

IMG_0157

Frozen bananas, strawberries, mango, chia seeds, kale, spinach dates, oranges, cherries… anything and everything goes into my blender to create a nutrient dense smoothie that feeds my soul and body.

Breakfast this morning was a delicious bowl of cut melon with Greek yogurt and a few almonds. I also toasted up a piece of Maninins gluten free bread and spread some fresh avocado with fresh cracked pepper on top. Beautiful!

IMG_0191

I am getting ready to go to Portland this afternoon so I have been cleaning and packing – I am gone through Monday.

I also snacked on some roasted almonds throughout the morning and then made myself a smoothie for lunch.

IMG_0192

IMG_0193

This bad boy had orange juice, strawberries, frozen banana, frozen mango, water, spinach and 3 dates. So good!

Off and running! Stay healthy my friends!
