Recommitting to Yourself + Grocery Haul

Hi friends!

How has your day been?

Today I could not get enough coffee! But… that’s kind of the case every single day. lol

After getting Jordan off to school, I did some emails and work, then I did a PiYo workout! PS – I love PiYo! I have been doing PiYo for over a year and it is one of my favorite workouts! I did BUNS today followed by 10 minutes of core work on my own. Holy burn! Even after a year, it still burns!

I went to go get in the shower and saw someone found a sliver of sun to lay in! She was sooooo happy sunbathing!

After a week of down time with my mom, I am recommitting to myself again. I think it’s super important to keep recommitting to yourself, your goals and desires! After very minimal working out and relaxed eating, my clean diet is coming back in full force! I can tell my sugar cravings have been out of control lately and I need to get those in check FAST! Sugar has and always will be my downfall – it’s really easy for me to fall into the sugar trap.

I had to restock my healthy foods ASAP! So a trip to Trader Joes was in order! Keep in mind that NOT all of what I bought was for me – I bought for my son’s lunch and my husband, too.

groceries3

Bag 3 – tomato sauce, yellow onion, apples, Panda cereal for Jordan, bananas, cantaloupe, cauliflower and almond milk.

Clean Eating  Tip – When you have healthy options in the house, you will eat healthy!

I was in such a rush to get out the door today that I completely forgot to eat! I ended up eating a Lara Bar on the way home from the store… at 2:30pm!

snack3

After I put the groceries away, I made myself a smoothie. This really hit the spot!

lunch

Tropical Strawberry Protein Powder (I used Shakeology)

1 large ripe banana

1 tablespoon peanut butter

Unsweetened Almond Milk

Ice

Cold, thick and creamy!

I also had a small snack about an hour after my smoothie:

snacks

Pumpkin Terra Chips and a string cheese – my mom left the chips from when she was here and at first I didn’t like them… but they are actually pretty good! I am all about pumpkin right now!

snacks1

Before dinner we all just hung out and relaxed! We watched Back to the Future III in honor of Back to the Future day. The third one is my favorite!

Dinner was SIMPLE! I made pasta sauce with ground turkey, basil, garlic and boiled some spaghetti and steamed some green beans. I had a small portion of noodles, a ton of green beans and a healthy portion of meat sauce. I love adding veggies to my pasta bowls.

For dessert I had a piece of dark chocolate.

Here are my tips for getting back on track after a day, a weekend, a week or maybe a month from your healthy eating and living schedule:

Don’t dwell on the past!

Create a PLAN of attack!

Surround yourself with healthy inspiration!

Make a change TODAY!

Be patient and extend grace towards yourself!

How do you get back on track after time off?

Grocery Haul – 4.14.15

It’s time for another grocery haul post! Trader Joe style, of course! 😉

After I dropped Jordan off at school I wanted to pick a few things up at the store so off I went! Note to self: shop early in the morning more often because there was no one at the store – score for aisle space!

I just took everything out of each bag and plopped it on the counter. I usually try to organize but not this morning – lol

grocery 1

:Bag one:

Fresh flowers for the house, green bananas (my son LOVES green bananas – he refuses to eat them yellow) organic firm tofu, frozen pineapple, apple sauce squeeze packs, sweet potato fries, assortment of bars, Ezekiel bread, a can of corn and pears

grocery 2

:Bag two:

Half dozen organic eggs, cheese tortellini, yogurt, lemons/limes, more bars, cilantro hummus, frozen blueberries, apple juice boxes, parsley, green grapes, zucchini, heirloom tomatoes, fresh mint and strawberries

grocery 3

:Bag three:

Heritage Flake cereal, cheddar cheese, sweet potatoes, yellow bell pepper, avocado, black forest ham, apples, green onions, broccoli, romaine lettuce, fresh basil, carrots and chicken breast

So there you have it! I needed to stock up on some fresh produce and I bought extra for recipe testing this week, too!

What is one thing you always pick up at the grocery store? For me it’s apples and Larabars. My go to snack!

Grocery Haul – 1.10.15

Hey guys! It’s time for me to post another grocery haul post! I shopped exclusively at Trader Joes – this was a pretty big one! I have a lot of recipes to try out this week!

( Please keep in mind that my family does not follow a 100% CLEAN lifestyle. We have snacks, chocolate and I do not restrict. While I follow a heavy plant based diet, not everyone in my family does. We have a well balanced and HAPPY household! )

PCC Grocery Haul

Hey friends!

I have another fun grocery haul post for you! I have been working with Traina PR and ProYo Frozen Yogurt to help spread the word about an AMAZING protein packed frozen yogurt product (review coming soon!). ProYo is stocked in our local Seattle/North West PCC Natural Foods but unfortunately I don’t shop there often as it is a little far from me. So I figured while I was there I would shop around and pick up some items I needed!

pcc 15

PCC Market is unique to the Northwest – Seattle Area. They are similar to Whole Foods but on a smaller scale. They focus on more local products and showcase small businesses vs. large corporations. Like I mentioned above, I normally do not shop there as it is a little far from me but yesterday reminded me why I love it there! I will probably make it a habit to shop there more often now! 🙂

pcc 1

I forgot my re-usable bags – bummer! But I will make good use of the paper bags 😉

pcc 2

PCC has AMAZING produce! Mostly Organic and as local as possible. I picked up some carrots (these suckers are HUGE!), brussel sprouts, a POM, cilantro, cameo apples, green bananas, lettuce, Japanese sweet potatoes, avocado, red bell pepper, yellow onion and collard greens.

pcc 3

Some “healthy” snacks and dinner options: Larabars, sprouted bread, root chips, sparkling water, plain yogurt, ground turkey and chicken breasts, veggie patties and fresh pasta.

pcc product collage

These are two fun items I picked up that I have never tried before! Chez Marie veggie patties and Rising Moon Organic four cheese tortelloni! I will let you know how they taste! 😉

pcc 6

I picked Jordan up some fun “healthy” food too! Natures Path Amazon Flakes, Earth’s Best Organic Waffles, strawberry honey yogurt, Annies Mac n’ Cheese, Z-Bar fruit snacks, vitamins and some cute finger puppets. 😉

Some other fun finds:

PCC makes their own granola – and while I usually make my own, this was calling name!

pcc 8

Goji Berries for the WIN!

pcc 9

I also picked up a 6 pack of Blue Sky soda. I should have read the ingredients BEFORE buying it as there is caramel color in it. I don’t drink soda normally… but everyone once in a while it just sounds good! I thought this would be OK to have on hand. And these will probably last the entire year, too! lol

pcc 7

I also found a premium dog food, AvoDerm, for our dog that has avocado in it! Great for her coat and skin!

pcc 14
And of course an new magazine to read – I just love magazines!

pcc 13

Did you go grocery shopping this week? If so, did you find and fun finds?

Have a beautiful and healthy day!

Grocery Haulin’!

Hey friends!

I went grocery shopping over the weekend and I wanted to share what I picked up!

I ALWAYS have grocery haul requests and it has been a long time since my last post… I hope you enjoy!

 photo 1

This time I went to both Whole Foods and Trader Joes. I had not been to Whole Foods in a few months and I wanted to see what new items they had!

photo 22

I finally refilled my glass jars with my bulk bin staples! I grabbed some red quinoa, red lentils, adzuki beans, hemp hearts, peanuts and oat groats! I also found some new tea, veggie dogs, Earth Balance, mangos and new incense! I love burning incense for a few minutes as I journal and meditate.

photo 33

I also picked up a few cans of organic beans, bars for me and Jordan, coconut water, organic Annie’s mac n cheese, chopped tomatoes and pretzel sticks for Jordan.

photo 2

At Trader Joes, I picked up organic baby spinach, kale, broccoli, organic apples, organic celery, cabbage and bananas.

photo 3

Plain Bagels, yogurt, bell pepper, onion and hummus

photo 11

Organic eggs, pure maple syrup, organic Joe’s O’s for Jordan, olive oil, organic apple sauce, corn, brussel sprouts, asparagus, carrots, ground turkey and corned beef.

I was starving after I was done putting all the groceries away! I threw together a bowl of cooked millet I had in the fridge, black beans and sautéed onion and bell pepper, and mixed in some salsa. Very tasty!

photo 111

I settles down with a mug of my new Yogi Tea… I just love the tea sayings on the tags.

I hope you all had a wonderful Monday!

Stay beautiful!
