Making your life a priority!

Hi friends! Happy FRIDAY! I hope each one of you had a fantastic week and have some fun plans for the weekend! Maybe some pumpkin patch fun? Football? working out?
Tell me below what you will be doing this weekend! ❤

I have been doing a lot of thinking about a major excuse that I see so many people use, and I use, too!

I DONT HAVE TIME!

I recently read that in order for you to create a life that you love you must rephrase this thought. It is so simple yet so dramatic!

Instead of saying I don’t have the time – say, This is not a priority to me.

Woah.

Big difference, right?

Are you sitting there thinking – I hate my body, I need to get in shape, I need to get healthy but I just don’t have the time… you are telling yourself that your health is not a priority.

But it is! It really is!

CREATE THE TIME!

Don’t create the time for me… create it for YOU! No matter what you are saying you don’t have time for ask yourself if it’s a priority.

Ok let’s get down and dirty!

What are priorities? Priorities are the things that you want to accomplish in any given period of time. Think SHORT TERM GOALS. The more your goals represent your values, strengths and passions, the more likely you are to achieve them. The same thing goes for your priorities. A lot of people are stuck with to-do lists that have a lot of “shoulds” rather than their choices. Why not recreate your to-do list and have it reflect the things that represent your authentic choices?

1. Be aware of how you are currently spending your time

Write down all the things that you do. You need to start assessing your time! How much time do you spend in each area? Where you spend your time is where your priorities are currently at. Do you veg out playing Candy Crush on your phone? Skimming through facebook? Working on your business? Creating a healthier life? Whatever it is that you do you need to ask yourself if this is a priority and are these things aligning with my goals and purpose!

2. Assess how satisfied you are with the way you are spending your time

Think about the most important areas of your life (career/business, relationships, personal development, finances, health, traveling… etc). These areas are unique to you!

• Rate each area in terms of how important it is to you. Use a scale of 1-10 with 1 being “not important” and 10 being “vitally important.

• Now rate how well are you living each of these areas. How satisfied are you with the amount of time that you spend on this area? Rate this on a scale of 1-10.

GOLDEN NUGGET – Look back at those areas that you rated as very important (8, 9 or 10). If there is a gap of 2 or more points between how important an area is and your satisfaction rating, chances are that you are feeling a lack of balance because there is a gap between what is important to you and what you are actually doing.

3. Set new priorities to start doing more of the important things in your life!

What important activities are missing from your life and as you review each question, right down the activities that come to mind.

1. What is the most important thing in my life right now?

2. Where would I want to spend more time?

3. Where could I spend less time?

4. What areas need my attention now (e.g., school, talent, health, relationship)?

Write down your activities in the order that feels most important to you. This is your new list of priorities!

Remember that your priorities can change in any given period of time. If there is something important on your list that you do not have time for right now, think about when you can slot that in. It’s another way to take charge of time and feel in control.

I really hope this helps!! And more importantly I hope you start taking action NOW!!!

Goal Writing 101

2013 is over! Are you sad or glad? 2013 was an eventful year for me but I know there are much better times to come! And I know that those times will come with preparation, goal setting and follow through!

Are you ready to make 2014 the best for YOU? I have some easy tips that you can use to make any goal realistic!

goals1

A very common mistake people make when setting goals is setting a goal that is too big and too vague. Lose weight, eat healthier, save money, be happier. Instead of these large scale goals, try to think of a very specific goal and dissect it. If you want to lose weight, make a goal to lose 10 pounds or to go to the gym 4 days a week.

Another important step is to visualize the GOOD that will come by making and meeting your goal! As you are thinking about your goal, ask yourself: What does it feel like? What does it look like?

goals2

Get out that dusty journal and WRITE, BABY! There is something so incredibly powerful about writing! I call this: Making a promise to YOURSELF! You wont want to disappoint yourself at the end of the day and this small step will help you achieve any goal you set!

After writing down your goal, start thinking of ways to achieve that goal. For example: if you want to save money, set a small goal every month or every pay day to save $. It can be $5, $10 or $100. Also, think about what you are saving for and look at your budget closely. Are you saving up to buy a home? Your children’s college? Or maybe you want to have an emergency fund. Whatever the reason, base your goal around that.

And again, it doesn’t matter what your goal is. Think about the smaller goals to help you achieve your main goal.

goals3

If you set a goal you also need to set time to achieve that goal! Make it a habit to lock in ample time on your daily, weekly or monthly calendar. It will be a part of your daily routine until you achieve it!

goals4

I’m not good enough. I can’t do it. I am not worthy of my goal.

Stop this self doubt talk! Because YOU ARE WORTHY! Pay very close attention to your inner voice and make sure you are not self sabotaging your goals. It’s completely normal for you to feel discouraged but you have to put those feelings aside and tell yourself that you can do it! Stay in control and surround yourself with positive affirmations and daily awareness!

goals5

Starting and finishing a goal can be a huge undertaking! Especially if you are a little uncertain about what you need to do. Pairing up with a partner, a friend or a support group will help you feel more confident and will help you stick it out! They can help you stay accountable and lend an ear when you need to vent.

If your goal requires you to seek professional help (a nutritionist, a personal trainer, a coach, a therapist, a financial advisor) make sure you are meeting with them to help you stay on track. Trust in those around you and surround yourself with positive influence.

goals6

I get it – life is happening all around you. But try to harness the stress that’s around you. Journal, meditate, practice yoga and remember to BREATH! Don’t let hiccups get in the way of your goals! And if you happen to veer off course just pick yourself back up and start where you left off.

Now it’s time to think about those goals! Tell me: what goals are you creating this coming year? Write them in the comments! I will help you stay accountable!

coffee date, goals, life

Coffee Date Sunday 12.8.13

Happy Sunday Friends!

I mentioned my facebook page the other day that I was going to start writing coffee date posts. If you are not familiar with coffee date posts, they are heart felt conversations, ramblings, thoughts… basically the same conversations if you and I were physically sitting down for coffee, chatting away. PS – I would LOVE that! To have coffee with each one of my readers?! How fun! But, I know we can’t (unless you live in the Seattle area!) so grab your cup of coffee, cozy up and join me, wont you?!

coffee111

If we were having coffee this morning, I would tell you that I am SO happy it’s December!

I just love hearing how excited Jordan gets over EVERYTHING! Lights, trees, Santa, elves, Christmas music… I find that I am more excited now that Jordan is older. I can remember what I felt like when I was a little girl and how much I loved this time of year. And when I see his little eyes sparkle with lights it melts my heart!

I am also teaching him about Christmas and the meaning of giving and sharing. We always give back this time of year so when we go to the store we buy extra food for the food drives – he loves handing the food over to the collection workers. He also asks about the Giving Trees he sees in the stores. It makes him sad to hear that other kids will not receive presents this year so he wanted to buy a book for a child the other day. Proud mommy moment right there.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I have been having EXTREME baby fever!

Baby this, baby that… ANYTHING BABIES! Not sure if the BFP will come any time soon (or ever) but my hormones have been screaming BABY!

I have been even making baby plushes and toys to be sold in my shop… which I am sure is not helping. But I do love making baby items! ❤ (this is for sale so let me know if you would like to pre-order this before it goes into my shop!)

If we were having coffee this morning, I would tell you that I am so ready for 2014!

Although, 2013 has been a pretty good year for me! I have been writing out my business and personal goals for 2014 and I cannot wait to get started!

I used to never write down my goals. I had all of the amazing ideas yet nothing would happen because I wasn’t taking action. I will be talking more to you about this subject this month, but the best for for you to see your vision is to write your dreams down. This starts the action process. Don’t let those wonderful dreams and goals disappear! They are there for a reason!

If we were having coffee today, I would tell you how strong and beautiful you are!

Because you are! ❤

{Weekend Love}

Hey clean eaters! How has the weekend been for you?

I have been dealing with a head cold for the past few days and today it finally broke and hit me hard. Plugged up ears, soar through, stuffy nose… I guess cold season is here! Jordan has been a little stuffy this week, too. Kids and their germs – it’s the gift that keeps on giving! lol

I have been upping my shakes and smoothies as this helps with my sore throat and it’s a great way to get my fruits and vegetables in.

watermelon juice

This pink beauty is my beloved watermelon juice with frozen strawberries! Oh man, I could live off of these!

shake1

I switched it up this morning and had a purple smoothie that was to die for! Blueberries, strawberries, spinach, orange juice, protein powder, water and almond milk. I felt much better after this!

What are your favorite ingredients for your smoothies and shakes?

The past few days I have been hiding out inside of my house. Not because I have been sick but because I have been brainstorming, building my future, analyzing my fears and passions and paving my own journey. I have been loving every single second of it!

coahcing

I had a powerful call with my dear friend, and coach, Kris from I Heart Wellness. She is AMAZING! So strong, so driven and just being on the phone with her make my passions come alive and allows me to see my own unique vision! In my opinion, everyone needs to have a coach in life. Someone to trust, to confide in and someone to tell you the steps you need to take in order to see greatness in your life! Even if you are coach! It’s so refreshing to get a new perspective on life!

Here’s the skinny: I will be turning 30 next month. And as much as I don’t think it’s a big deal, subconsciously I think I’m freaking out. I love parts about my current life and there are things that I thought would be different. So I’m taking inventory, setting goals and making a plan of action!

Some of my goals are relationship goals, physical goals, emotional goals, life goals… I have been running on my own positive fuel the past 48 hours!

Lots of good things are coming!

Over the next week I will be sharing some of my goals and dreams with all of you. One thing that I always tell my own coaching clients is to write your goals down. Remember: goals need to be specific with dates.

I have a great goal exercise that I will be sharing with you soon! 🙂

I am off to do more journaling, brainstorming and planning!

I will leave you with this ADORABLE picture that Jordan made – apparently it’s a portrait of ME! lol

Fit Tip – Drink your Water + Goals

A new year. A new you!

calendar

I am not one to make New Year resolutions. But I am one to make vision boards and write a small bucket list for that year. I will admit that I am very impatient and I tend to shoot for the BIG goal instead of the smaller goals that lead up to that goal.

One of my goals is to compete in an Iron Man before I am 30. This has been my goal for several years. Well guess what… I am turning 30 this year.

Sure! No problem! I got this!

One small problem… I have not done any form of exercise in several months. So here I am, starting from ground zero and I want to compete in an Iron Man in less than 10 months?! I might have to make some minor adjustments and change it to Compete in my first Triathlon before I’m 30.

But there are many smaller goals that I need to accomplish before I can even think of this big goal. Like restart my gym membership, buy new running shoes and run a 5K.

I bring this up because I know I am not the only one that tends to bite off more than they can chew. It’s good to keep that big goal at the top of the list and continue to keep striving, but you need to set smaller goals to monitor your progress and to make that large goal more manageable. It also allows you to create a road-map to that goal which is easier to maintain.road map

Think of it like this: you decide to take a road trip cross country. Are you just going to start driving and hope for the best? Probably not. You need maps, directions and a sense of confidence that you are driving in the right direction and that eventually you are going to arrive at your destination.

Drink more water!

I will be the first to admit that I am horrible at drinking water. I know the benefits of water but for some reason I just cannot get myself to drink enough. BUT I am determined to drink at least two liters of water per day: one liter before noon and one liter through out the day. So far I have been pretty successful at this goal! I am less bloated, more energized and it really helps with my cravings.

Not sure how much water you should be drinking? It really depends on your lifestyle. There is no right or wrong answer as to how much you should be drinking. You also get water from fresh fruit and vegetables.

Here is a great way to monitor your water consumption that I found on Pinterest.

waterfitn  Pretty cool, huh?!

What are some of your goals this year? Do you have a problem losing interest in them?

Neglected?

Hi guys! Happy Monday to you all!

So between work and home life I feel as though I have been neglecting my poor blog. =( It saddens me, actually.  My time spent in the kitchen has been minimal… well that was due to the heat wave Seattle saw last week. The last thing I wanted to do was be near a stove when my house is a balmy 85 degrees inside. Luckily, and much to my liking, Seattle is seeing rain today – a much needed cooling!
Anyways, sorry blog. Sorry readers. If I go a few days without posting, it does not mean that I am gone. Just a little busy, or tired.
Remember how I have said before that one of my goals was to have my own sewing design business? Well, I am striving to have that goal met in the next few months. I guess going back to work has made me open my eyes a little. Jordan is adapting to his daycare/school, and I feel very comfortable leaving him there. He actually loves it!
Also, working for someone else in a position that is not allowing me to grow or gain anything from is not appealing. I am thankful that I do have a job, and it really is a good company with a positive boss, but it’s not for me.
Every spare minute I have has been spent on sewing, researching, planning, drawing and dreaming. I am the only one who can turn my dreams into reality. It is taking a lot out of me but I want it so bad that I can literally taste it.
One drawback is there are thousands of like minded individual that wants to succeed at the same goal. I have the talent, I just need to find something that makes me different from the rest. I have been tossing ideas around the past week and I have started to design a new product line that includes pillows, purse organizers and quilts.
Please forgive me if I am distant, or if I forget to reply to a question, or if I don’t visit your blog enough. I love you all and each one of you have touched my heart! The support system is incredible!
I have created a new blog for business – I think it’s pretty darn cute. 😉
Here are just a few pillow designs that I have been working on:
