Making your life a priority!

Hi friends! Happy FRIDAY! I hope each one of you had a fantastic week and have some fun plans for the weekend! Maybe some pumpkin patch fun? Football? working out?
Tell me below what you will be doing this weekend! ❤

yoga peace

I have been doing a lot of thinking about a major excuse that I see so many people use, and I use, too!

I DONT HAVE TIME!

I recently read that in order for you to create a life that you love you must rephrase this thought. It is so simple yet so dramatic!

Instead of saying I don’t have the time – say, This is not a priority to me.

Woah.

Big difference, right?

Are you sitting there thinking – I hate my body, I need to get in shape, I need to get healthy but I just don’t have the time… you are telling yourself that your health is not a priority.

But it is! It really is!

CREATE THE TIME!

Don’t create the time for me… create it for YOU! No matter what you are saying you don’t have time for ask yourself if it’s a priority.

Ok let’s get down and dirty!

What are priorities? Priorities are the things that you want to accomplish in any given period of time. Think SHORT TERM GOALS. The more your goals represent your values, strengths and passions, the more likely you are to achieve them. The same thing goes for your priorities. A lot of people are stuck with to-do lists that have a lot of “shoulds” rather than their choices. Why not recreate your to-do list and have it reflect the things that represent your authentic choices?

1. Be aware of how you are currently spending your time

Write down all the things that you do. You need to start assessing your time! How much time do you spend in each area? Where you spend your time is where your priorities are currently at. Do you veg out playing Candy Crush on your phone? Skimming through facebook? Working on your business? Creating a healthier life? Whatever it is that you do you need to ask yourself if this is a priority and are these things aligning with my goals and purpose!

2. Assess how satisfied you are with the way you are spending your time

Think about the most important areas of your life (career/business, relationships, personal development, finances, health, traveling… etc). These areas are unique to you!

• Rate each area in terms of how important it is to you. Use a scale of 1-10 with 1 being “not important” and 10 being “vitally important.

• Now rate how well are you living each of these areas. How satisfied are you with the amount of time that you spend on this area? Rate this on a scale of 1-10.

GOLDEN NUGGET – Look back at those areas that you rated as very important (8, 9 or 10). If there is a gap of 2 or more points between how important an area is and your satisfaction rating, chances are that you are feeling a lack of balance because there is a gap between what is important to you and what you are actually doing.

3. Set new priorities to start doing more of the important things in your life!

What important activities are missing from your life and as you review each question, right down the activities that come to mind.

1. What is the most important thing in my life right now?

2. Where would I want to spend more time?

3. Where could I spend less time?

4. What areas need my attention now (e.g., school, talent, health, relationship)?

Write down your activities in the order that feels most important to you. This is your new list of priorities!

Remember that your priorities can change in any given period of time. If there is something important on your list that you do not have time for right now, think about when you can slot that in. It’s another way to take charge of time and feel in control.

I really hope this helps!! And more importantly I hope you start taking action NOW!!!

{Weekend Love}

Hey clean eaters! How has the weekend been for you?

I have been dealing with a head cold for the past few days and today it finally broke and hit me hard. Plugged up ears, soar through, stuffy nose… I guess cold season is here! Jordan has been a little stuffy this week, too. Kids and their germs – it’s the gift that keeps on giving! lol

I have been upping my shakes and smoothies as this helps with my sore throat and it’s a great way to get my fruits and vegetables in.

watermelon juice

This pink beauty is my beloved watermelon juice with frozen strawberries! Oh man, I could live off of these!

shake1

I switched it up this morning and had a purple smoothie that was to die for! Blueberries, strawberries, spinach, orange juice, protein powder, water and almond milk. I felt much better after this!

What are your favorite ingredients for your smoothies and shakes?

The past few days I have been hiding out inside of my house. Not because I have been sick but because I have been brainstorming, building my future, analyzing my fears and passions and paving my own journey. I have been loving every single second of it!

coahcing

I had a powerful call with my dear friend, and coach, Kris from I Heart Wellness. She is AMAZING! So strong, so driven and just being on the phone with her make my passions come alive and allows me to see my own unique vision! In my opinion, everyone needs to have a coach in life. Someone to trust, to confide in and someone to tell you the steps you need to take in order to see greatness in your life! Even if you are coach! It’s so refreshing to get a new perspective on life!

Here’s the skinny: I will be turning 30 next month. And as much as I don’t think it’s a big deal, subconsciously I think I’m freaking out. I love parts about my current life and there are things that I thought would be different. So I’m taking inventory, setting goals and making a plan of action!

Some of my goals are relationship goals, physical goals, emotional goals, life goals… I have been running on my own positive fuel the past 48 hours!

Lots of good things are coming!

Over the next week I will be sharing some of my goals and dreams with all of you. One thing that I always tell my own coaching clients is to write your goals down. Remember: goals need to be specific with dates.

I have a great goal exercise that I will be sharing with you soon! 🙂

I am off to do more journaling, brainstorming and planning!

I will leave you with this ADORABLE picture that Jordan made – apparently it’s a portrait of ME! lol

{Love Letters} #1 Find your PASSION!

Hello beautiful! Happy Monday once again!

Today I wanted to reach out to you personally and share some thoughts of wisdom with you about PASSION.

One subject that I love talking about is PASSION! Passion is what drives us in our own life. Having passion allows us to reach our goals and dreams and to create a life worth living!

But what if you lack passion and drive? Do you ask yourself “What is my purpose in life? What do I need to do? Where do I start?”

e5768af62f37ca247516adb71304e94f

I have been there before: feeling very blah in my life and I was basically skimming by with no direction. I wasn’t putting any energy into myself or my life. I felt depressed and out of touch with myself. So I started self exploring and looking at myself in the mirror. I pretty much gave myself a mental slap and said “WAKE UP!”. I started getting to know myself again – asking important questions, creating a vision that I felt happy about and started to listen to my HEART instead of my MIND.

It’s true we all have a calling in life. And when you are on the right path you can feel it! You wake up thinking about that passion, you work hard towards it and you dream about it when you sleep! Your passion is a positive subject that you cannot help but to be so freaking excited about! You tell everyone you meet about it and you would shout it from the mountain if you could!

I love helping others and inspiring others to live a beautiful life! THIS is my PASSION! Did you know that I wake up EVERY SINGLE MORNING thinking about how I am going to positively change the world? Did you know that I wake up thinking about YOU and how I can positively change YOU?

IT’S TRUE! It’s my PASSION!

Do you find yourself having a difficult time finding your own PASSION in life? You are not alone! Start by sitting down and writing what your ultimate life would look like! If money was no object, what would you do for a career? Where would you live? What kind of legacy would you leave? What do you want to be remember by?

I often times look back to how I was in High School because this is when I felt free, happy and completely like myself! I was a free-spirited hippy and I brought so much happiness in life! PS – My nickname in High School was Sunshine! 🙂 And while I have grown into a woman since my high school days, that inner part of me still wants to be hiking through Nepal, practicing yoga, writing poetry and being completely content.

Always remember: You deserve a BEAUTIFUL LIFE!

Creating Balance in Your Life

Happy Monday!

I hope everyone had an amazing weekend of relaxing, spending time outside and enjoying your beautiful life!

I was talking a friend the other day and the topic of balance came up. If you are an adult, chances are you are struggling with balance in your life.

balance

Whether you are a wife, a husband, a mother, a father, a full time student, working a full time job, balance is always a topic that is being discussed and evaluated.

What do you think of when you first hear the word “balance”? Maybe you are trying to find that happy balance to work full time while being with your family. Or maybe you are a stay at home parent looking to get back into your running or workout routine. Whatever you are finding unbalanced in your life, I have some tips that will help ease your mind and take some stress away from enjoying your beautiful life.

  • The first step is to write down who you are and what your mandatory responsibilities are. Wife, mother, your career, school work, caretaker to a family member. Write the things down that you MUST do every day.

  • The second step is to acknowledge where you might be lacking balance and neglecting the areas that are important in your life.

  • The third step is make a map of your ideal life. I want you to be very specific. Maybe you want to incorporate more running in your schedule, or more time with your children. Make a schedule of your ideal self with NO hesitations.

  • The fourth step is to start setting goals. Examine your ideal day and start setting goals to achieve it. Maybe you find your commute to work is too long and is eating up a large chunk of your time that could be spent with your children or working out. Your goals might be to ask your company if you could telecommute from home, move closer to work or to possible look for a new career that allows you to have more time in your day.

  • The fifth step is to make a very detailed plan for your goals and work towards them every day/week/month. If you are married be sure to include your spouse in your plan and brainstorm ideas as you might have to make some changes as a family.

It is also very important to create a life that embraces who YOU are and what your own passions are. I am a very free spirited person that loves creating art and being in nature. For years I was putting myself in environments that drained my inner creativity. I spent years feeling very lost and out of balance. I am who I am and I started realizing that I need to be in a certain kind of environment to feel free and balanced.

balance

Balance needs to be practiced every single day. No one masters balance as balance is continually growing in life. Nurture balance, accept balance and find your inner peace.

HOT HOT HOT

Seattle has been HOT!

945337_491207014280969_20495069_n

We tied with Arizona today! Crazy for this time of year!

Today was spent inside, cleaning the ENTIRE house from top to bottom! Every nook and corner was swept, vacuumed and mopped. What was once a dusty, dog hair zone is now a sparkling home once again! I have been walking around barefoot all night and it feels sooooo good! I love clean hard wood floors!

I did have some lunch at about 11:30 – I skipped breakfast. Ooops!

IMG_0370

Have you guys heard of Better Bean? They are a Portland based company that specializes in BEANS! I first came in contact with them a year ago and then I met Meagan, one of the owners, at the Seattle Veg Fest this year. Such a sweetheart! I gave her a big hug and congratulated her on this amazing journey she is on!

Their products are fantastic! I love me some beans and no matter what you are craving, they have you covered!

I bought the Cuban Black Beans and ate them straight from the container today. I didn’t even heat them up!

And just look at the ingredient list – super simple, very clean and packed full of goood stuff!

IMG_0371

I finally showered at 2:45! I was a hot mess after scrubbing the floors, 3 loads of laundry, vacuuming and organizing.

I also made myself a refreshing iced coffee – first iced coffee of the year!

IMG_0374

I used my Keurig and brewed a K-Cup over ice. Then I added a splash of unsweetened almond milk and a few drops of stevia. So refreshing and good!

Jordan LOVED his first day at his new school! He was naming his new friends, sharing his play time adventures and letting me know how much he enjoyed it! I made him a simple snack of Chobani yogurt and apple slices.

IMG_0380

I too had some apple slices and CB’s Nuts Peanut Butter.

IMG_0378

The rest of the afternoon was spent outside, riding bikes and enjoying the sunshine!

Dinner was light and so good! We grilled up a piece of salmon seasoned with a little garlic power and pepper and I made a fresh spinach salad to go with it.

IMG_0381

IMG_0382

I sprinkled some dried basil, oregano, more black pepper and spritzed some fresh lemon juice on top of my piece.

My salad contained spinach leaves, red onion, kalamata olives, goat cheese, a splash of olive oil and some pepper.

IMG_0383

It was exactly what I was craving!

Before it got too dark we all took a nice walk around the block. It was such a beautiful night out! The lights were reflecting off of the lake and there was a nice, cool breeze. Perfect!

Healthy Eating · journal

I am…

Labeling yourself can turn into a sticky situation. With labels come high standards and consequences if you accidently, or purposely, steer off course. I see so many individuals get so caught up in the label making – I am this, I am that. But being truthful and honest about what you label yourself is the key. As well as what you believe in.

I try very hard to not label myself as a vegan or vegetarian. If people ask me about my eating styles I say “I eat vegan” because… well… I’m not perfect. 99% of the food I consume follows this basic guideline – eating plant based food. However, am I completely strict on this? No. Why? Well, because I feel there are times when rules can be bent. It’s a choice I can make as long as the situation feels comfortable.

me

I listen to what my body tells me. I don’t eat like a typical American eating a typical Western diet. I am perfectly fine with having a smoothie for dinner, or a huge bowl of raw veggies for lunch. It’s about satisfying your body and feeding it with the right fuel for your individual and unique way of life.

Do I crave junk food? You bet! I have a HUGE sweet tooth and if I am not careful it can start to take control over me. Junk food is highly addicting. There are many ingredients, most of them un natural ingredients, that act like drugs in our bodies. Sending these little moments of bliss to our brains. We start to crave it and develop habits and thus forms an addiction. I enjoy chocolate just like the next person but I don’t let it control me. I control it by eating a very high percentage of plants and grains. But this has taken a lot of training. It’s a habit for me to shop in the produce section and bulk food section at the market. I rarely skim the middle isles unless there is a specific item on my list. I never set foot in the meat department because I have no need for meat in my diet. I will occasionally by a carton of Organic, Free Range eggs and a few dairy items for Jordan but for the most part I buy fresh produce.

groceries

I am not joking when I say diets do not work. You need to change your eating habits for life. It takes time, effort but with some patience you will start to learn new ways and love the fact you are eating fresh, whole foods. And then cooking becomes enjoyable again! Mixing fresh ingredients and blending spices to create the perfect meal is so rewarding!

foodcollage

It doesn’t matter if you are a vegetarian, vegan, omnivore or carnivore… you must follow the same principles of eating healthy, eating from the Earth and eating what your body needs.

Just for fun, here are a few things I AM:
I am a proud mom!
I am a Daughter and Grand Daughter who is loved.
I am an artist.
I am a unique individual that has developed into her own person and loves her quirky ways.
I am a coffee drinker… not going to stop and you cant make me!
I am an introvert… too much at times.
I am determined, stubborn and sometimes thickheaded.
But all I want in life is happiness, love and respect.

Dreams and Goals

Sunday Dreaming

Hello beautiful!

Happy Sunday! Are you enjoying your day so far? I am sitting here with my coffee and I am completely enjoying my morning! I feel so blessed to be where I am right now – I am helping people with their health and weight, making positive changes in lives and being able to sit comfortably from my living room. I have the biggest smile on my face right now!

coffeephoto

Are you smiling right now?

For years I have been searching for my smile. I felt lost and off a path that I knew I should have been on. I have HUGE dreams and passions but I never really understood HOW to achieve them. I thought I was failing at something… I thought I was failing at life. And I will admit that sometimes I still feel I am off of my path but recently it is much more clear!

Here are some tools that have helped me feel as though I was working in the right direction!

  • Start writing them down! Dreams will continue to stay dreams until you write them down!
  • Start attaching goals to those dreams. Goals are action items that have a deadline.
  • Start breaking your goals up into smaller goals. It’s important to understand that there are small steps to take to get you where you need to be. These smaller steps also create motivation because there is a sense of achievement every time you complete a task!
  • Get help! Do you feel that you simply cannot get where you want to go? Contact a professional coach, talk with a family member that owns their own business or talk with someone that is in the industry that you are wanting to get in to! Everyone is very passionate about their life of work and I bet they would be excited to share their story with you!

Whatever your goals and dreams are, believe in yourself! Believe that you have the power to be whoever you want to be!

Stay beautiful, stay healthy, stay YOU!
